According to a 2019-2020 survey conducted by Norway's data protection authority, Datatilsynet, data subjects are uneasy regarding their privacy and protection of their personal data. The survey found two-thirds of respondents feel a lack of control over their data while more than half said they opt against using a service based on data processing concerns. Additionally, a majority of respondents showed a lack of trust in social media companies and search engines as it pertains to their handling of personal data.
