This panel for the first time brings privacy, competition/consumer regulators and experts together at the IAPP ANZ Summit. The panel will discuss local and global developments that impact privacy, competition and consumer reform and regulation. Since the release of the "Final Report on the Digital Platforms Inquiry and Government" response, the Privacy Act is changing. The panel will look at what this means for regulated entities. Regulator legal action is ramping up on matters that touch on privacy, competition and consumer regulation, as cases come before the Federal Court of Australia. The panel will address what is happening in these matters. Internationally, the Global Privacy Assembly’s Digital Citizen and Consumer Working Group is tasked with finding synergies between consumer/competition and privacy laws to promote regulatory cooperation. The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner co-chairs this group with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada and will update the audience on developments.
