Distributed denial-of-service attacks have been around for a long time, but with the rise of internet of things devices — particularly ones that are poorly secured — DDoS attacks are getting exponentially more powerful. Respected infosecurity blogger Brian Krebs felt the brunt on one such powerful attack over the weekend. The attack was so powerful that Krebs’ website went down for several days, and the company providing pro bono security services had to pull out because of cost.
