Dozens of petitions filed in Indian courts are seeking removal of information posted on the internet in support for the right to be forgotten online, Reuters reports. Most of the petitions are from individuals acquitted of crimes or who have served required sentences. Several courts have ruled the right to be forgotten online is an essential component of the right to privacy, while digital rights group the Internet Freedom Foundation argued the right to be forgotten does not apply to public records.
