As the December 17 European and U.S. talks to discuss the nuts and bolts of The Transatlantic Data Protection Framework (TDPF) loom closer, the Federal Trade Commission’s (FTC) Commissioner Julie Brill discloses a few details about what to expect, New Europe reports. “Privacy and data protection is not just happening at a federal level in the U.S., it’s also happening at a state level, and this is something that I think is less visible, but deeply important,” Brill said. “I think everyone is hopeful that [the discussions] will be concluded by [January], I don’t want to promise that it will happen and I don’t want to indicate that if it did take a little bit longer that that’s a major problem,” she continued, emphasizing the U.S.’s desire to wrap up talks “as quickly as possible.”
