An application that blocks suspicious phone calls and reports malware is being used by Chinese police to track access to overseas financial news sites, the Financial Times reports. The app, launched by the National Anti-Fraud Center, is installed on more than 200 million mobile phones and was mandated by some local government agencies. Yale Law School Fellow Karman Lucero said the app could be misused “to develop valuable intelligence about who you are and what you do.”
