While most are familiar with the European Union’s right to be forgotten, now codified in the General Data Protection Regulation, many fewer are aware that, in 2015, California enacted the Online Eraser Law. Shaudee Dehghan, CIPP/US, writes that while some "are touting it as the 'Right To Be Forgotten Lite'" it doesn't quite stack up that way. In this comparison of the two laws for Privacy Perspectives, Dehghan writes that California's law is "simply legislating a delete button for minors," with all the limitations that come with it.
