The idea "hybrid cloud," where companies use a mix of private and public cloud services as part of their operations, will "likely" enter the mainstream in 2017, ITProPortal reports. Cloud services are not optional tools for companies anymore, and the forthcoming General Data Protection Regulation will require businesses to question how they are using data, and in some cases overhaul how they manage it in order to comply. Such processes "in turn will result in additional benefits in terms of reduced data storage and management costs," the report argues.
