The Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) has evolved since its introduction in 1991 to account for the rise in, first, fax-based marketing, then cell phones and text messaging and most recently a change to more closely align it with the Federal Trade Commission’s Telephone Consumer Fraud and Abuse Act. The Federal Communications Commission, TCPA’s regulating body, has issued rulings and orders that provide clarity on its expectations. How to keep track of it all?
