Quartz reports on European Commissioner for Competition Margrethe Vestager as her current term nears its conclusion. Vestager appeared at the Slush tech conference in Helsinki, where she offered a message on the current pace of her work. “I have this feeling that we are onto something and we better move as fast as possible,” Vestager said. The competition commissioner said regulators currently operate in a new world, “working to make sure they offer just as much protection online as offline.” Vestager reiterated during a news conference after her speech she feels a sense of urgency in her role. Vestager’s department has investigations into the practices of Google, Facebook and Amazon.
