U.S. lawmakers introduced a bipartisan bill to ban the sale of tech to Chinese telecom companies that have violated U.S. export control or sanction laws, ZDNet report. Companies, such as Huawei and ZTE, are listed under the “covered telecommunications companies.” Sen. Chris Van Hollen, D-Md., who helped introduce the bill alongside Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., Rep. Mike Gallagher, R-Wis., and Rep. Ruben Gallego, D-Ariz., said, “Huawei and ZTE are two sides of the same coin. Both companies have repeatedly violated US laws, represent a significant risk to American national security interests, and need to be held accountable.”
