After issuing a directive last September banning Kaspersky Lab products from U.S. government agency computers, President Donald Trump has signed into law a defense spending bill that includes a provision to ban Kaspersky Lab products, Reuters reports. Government officials have been concerned that the anti-virus manufacturer is vulnerable to Russian influence, creating potential vulnerabilities in U.S. civilian and military networks. Kaspersky has repeatedly denied any government involvement and said the law gave the company “serious concerns … due to its geographic-specific approach to cybersecurity.” Senator Jeanne Shaheen, D-N.H., said, “The case against Kaspersky is well-documented and deeply concerning. This law is long overdue.”
