Georgia-based health care technology vendor Ciox Health said a 2021 email security breach may have affected sensitive patient health information belonging to dozens of its health care provider clients, GovInfoSecurity reports. Approximately 32 providers were affected by the incident, including community hospitals, regional medical centers and specialty practices. The breach is one of 698 health data breaches affecting 45.1 million people in 2021, according to the Department of Health and Human Services’ HIPAA Breach Reporting Tool website.
