A flaw in the medical record system used by Amsterdam’s OLVG hospital group allowed anyone to view patients’ health information, DutchNews.nl reports. A philosophy student told the Volkskrant she was encouraged by other students to look up health care information while she was on the job. Students had access to all the information within the health care organization in order to allow them to work throughout the building. The Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, had previously warned about such issues after it was discovered health care employees attempted to access the records of a television star who attempted suicide.
