After a data breach left the personal information of nearly 10,000 employees exposed, Stanford’s Graduate School of Business chief digital officer has resigned, NBC Bay Area reports. The breach included financial aid records, as well as employee information and Social Security numbers. In an email to colleagues, Ranga Jayaraman said, “I take full responsibility for the failure to recognize the scope and nature of the … data exposure and report it in a timely manner to the dean and the University Information Security and Privacy Office.” Jayaraman added, “A decision like that is always a judgment call," noting, “I thought we’d done a detailed enough evaluation, and we didn’t hear there was super-sensitive information, so I decided to let it go.” In an email, representatives from Stanford University referred the Daily Dashboard to a report in Stanford News detailing the incident and the university's response.
