Another country announced it will investigate the data sharing agreement between WhatsApp and Facebook, as Spain’s data protection authority, the AEPD, will begin its own probe of the deal, Ars Technica reports. The AEPD recommends users read the terms and conditions before accepting them and also offers advice on the best way to change their settings while the investigation begins. The announcement comes after Hamburg Data Protection Commissioner Johannes Caspar requested Facebook stop using German data captured from WhatsApp, and a pledge from U.K. Information Commissioner Elizabeth Denham to look into the agreement. Italy’s data protection authority, Garante, has also launched a formal probe into the issue.
