GCN reports cities may be under-funding their investment in digital security in their quest to install networks that will further smart-city development. Cities are projected to spend more than half of the $135 billion allotted for digital infrastructure to protect against cyberattacks on other sectors such as financial and IT and defense sectors in 2024. This will leave cities “woefully underfunded and incredibly vulnerable to cyberattacks,” according to ABI Research officials.
