In a letter to Strava CEO James Quarles, Sens. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., and Chris Coons, D-Del., have asked how the company has implemented or plans to implement changes to its privacy and data-sharing settings so that it does not compromise sensitive location data, according to U.S. News & World Report. The letter states, "While the app's services offer useful information to the user, it seems that many consumers are either confused by Strava's opt-out provisions or simply unaware of what information is being tracked." They also point out that Strava’s app "makes it very difficult to opt out of unwanted data-sharing." Earlier this week, a group Congressional Democrats also requested answers from Quarles on how the company plans to rectify its data protection vulnerabilities.
