In a letter to Tinder CEO Greg Blatt, Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., has asked the company to immediately secure the personal data of its customers, TechCrunch reports. This comes after researchers discovered a vulnerability that left users open to having their data intercepted in certain circumstances. In the letter, Wyden writes, “Americans expect their personal information to remain private online. To that end, I urge Tinder to address these security lapses, and by doing so, to swipe right on user privacy and security.” In response to the letter, a representative for Tinder said the company has updated its mobile app and web platforms to include additional encryption. “Like every other technology company,” the company explained, “we are constantly improving our defenses in the battle against malicious hackers.”
