U.S. Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., proposed a bill that would require web publishers to stop targeted advertisements, MediaPost reports. The Behavioral Advertising Decisions Are Downgrading Services Act removes the protections of Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act when companies engage in "behavioral advertising." The bill would apply to companies with more than 30 million users in the U.S. or 300 million users around the world.
