Researchers Vangelis Stykas and George Lavdanis detailed how a bug in a misconfigured server run by Calamp allowed them to successfully hack the popular internet-connected vehicle management system and access sensitive user information, ZDNet reports. The researchers detail how the backend system left sensitive data vulnerable to hackers, including vehicle location, user information and the ability to disengage the engine. A spokesperson for the company said, "Calamp takes the matter of IT and data security seriously. Once we received the bug report, our team promptly investigated and developed a patch to address it. We believe that this matter has been resolved without issue."
