Millions of Americans may be identifiable through the bank and credit card data that financial data broker Yodlee sells to investment and research firms, Vice reports. While Yodlee said the data it sells is anonymous, a confidential document obtained by Motherboard describes an anonymization process that removes personally identifiable information but preserves unique identifiers that can be connected back to an individual consumer, like purchases they’ve made and when. Meanwhile, personal details of more than 10.6 million MGM Resorts guests were published on a hacking forum.
