Reuters reports China’s Personal Information Protection Law is disrupting global shipping tracking systems. The law includes increased government oversight over collection and exportation of China’s data, leading domestic providers to cease giving shipping location data, used to make decisions on shipping routes, to foreign companies. “With China being a major importer of coal and iron ore and one of the main container exporters globally, this decline in positional data could cause significant challenges concerning ocean supply chain visibility,” VesselsValue Head Trade Analyst Charlotte Cook said.
