Health Data Management reports that a data breach at the University of Washington School of Medicine impacted 974,000 patient records. The breach was discovered after a patient searched for his name on Google and discovered files containing his information. The breach is believed to stem from a vulnerability on a web server that exposed internal files, but it is not believed that patients’ most sensitive protected health information or their Social Security numbers were disclosed. Meanwhile, UConn Health reports approximately 326,000 people are involved in a data breach resulting from an "unauthorized third party illegally accessed a limited number of employee email accounts."
