Software company Palantir has been awarded more than $42 million in pandemic response contracts with federal agencies, raising concerns from privacy advocates, NBC News reports. Contracts include $24.9 million with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to build the HHS Protect platform and $10 million with the Department of Homeland Security for COVID-19 tracking. Advocates question whether the company is capable of ensuring the privacy of sensitive medical records.
