In an op-ed for Euractiv, Centre for Study and Research for Political Decision Chairman Nicolas Tenzer writes as the European Union prepares its Digital Services Act, it should consider whether it can keep up with Chinese influence over technology. “The largest Chinese companies invest heavily on formal compliance with European data protection regulations, but given the nature of the (People’s Republic of China) the control it exerts over companies located in China, how can this pro forma adherence provide real reassurance?” he asks.
