A national poll for Fortune ranked the public perception of all major tech companies in safeguarding user data and found only 22 percent of Americans stated they trust Facebook with their personal data, compared to 49 percent who said they trusted Amazon. The poll surveyed 2,000 U.S. adults and included questions about Facebook, Amazon, Apple, Microsoft and Google. Specifically, it asked how a person’s perception of a company had changed over the past six months, if that person trusted the company with their personal data, and if they were “at least somewhat confident” in the ability of leadership in the company.
