In a blog post, Microsoft President and Chief Legal Officer Brad Smith announced the technology company will allow commercial and public sector customers to store and process all their data in the EU. "Today’s update is part of our commitment to the EU’s vision for a 'Europe Fit for the Digital Age,' and an (acknowledgment) of the role the technology sector needs to play in helping Europe realize its digital aspirations," Smith wrote. Meanwhile, Euractiv reports on Facebook's concerns over conflicting obligations to privacy and transparency requirements.
