French President Emmanuel Macron spoke about an agreement signed by more than 50 countries and 250 organizations on efforts to counter cybersecurity threats, Politico reports. In his speech at the Paris Peace Forum, Macron discussed the pledge the countries and entities made to fight back against cyberattacks on critical infrastructure, the spread of misinformation, and to set limits on the ways governments can use tools to surveil their citizens. “We affirm our willingness to work together, in the existing fora and through the relevant organizations, institutions, mechanisms and processes to assist one another and implement cooperative measures,” the agreement states. The U.S., Russia and China are among the countries that did not sign the agreement.
