India's House of the People, Lok Sabha, has passed the Aadhaar and Other Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2019, which sets forth more stringent regulations related to Aadhaar and privacy violations, Gadgets360 reports. After announcing last month that he would act quickly on improving privacy laws, Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has followed through with what he called a "people-friendly and citizen-centric" bill that will promote proper, lawful data use. "We have ensured safeguards for the prohibition of data theft," Prasad said, adding that the protection of data sovereignty needed to be full and categorical.
