Users of LinkedIn likely received breach notification emails from the social network earlier this week, Fortune reports. The emails come four years after a 2012 hack of the service in which millions of passwords and usernames were accessed. The incident was widely reported in 2012, but came back into the spotlight last week with news that 117 million email and password combinations — significantly more than the 6.5 million originally reported in 2012 — were for sale on the Dark Web. “While we do all we can, we always suggest that our members visit our safety center to learn about enabling two-step verification, and implementing strong passwords in order to keep their accounts as safe as possible,” the email stated.
