USA Today reports U.S. lawmakers have sent a letter to Apple, Google and Samsung regarding improved data protection for menstruation and fertility tracking apps. Sen. Bob Menendez, D-N.J., along with Reps. Bonnie Coleman, D-N.J., and Mikie Sherrill, D-N.J., wrote that the companies are "well aware of the gaps in data security and instances where a user’s personal information and data was sold without the user’s explicit consent and knowledge." The lawmakers added women should be able to make "informed choices about their reproductive health and data" and the sharing of that data.
