During a U.S. Senate Commerce Committee hearing on the Cambridge Analytica revelations, lawmakers were considering legislation to tackle data misuse, The Wall Street Journal reports. Sen. Jerry Moran, D-Kan., said he may join in Sen. Richard Blumenthal’s, D-Conn., effort to pass a privacy bill of rights as a response to the incident. In the hearing, Aleksandr Kogan, the researcher at the center of Cambridge Analytica’s data collection, disputes Facebook’s story about the This Is Your Digital Life app that was pegged as the solution used to collect information for the data analytics firm. Meanwhile, a group of Facebook users is asking a federal appeals court to revive a lawsuit against Facebook accusing the tech company of tracking individuals through its “Like” button. (Registration may be required to access this story.)
