Beginning Aug. 1, labs testing for COVID-19 will be required to report the racial and ethnic information of positive and negative test results to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, The Hill reports. Labs will also be required to report age and ZIP codes of test results. CDC Director Robert Redfield said this is among the agency’s efforts to improve on data collection. Assistant Secretary for Health Admiral Brett Giroir said it will help “combat health disparities.”
