A few weeks back, Dutch Data Protection Authority Jacob Kohnstamm announced the commencement of the Privacy Bridge Project to develop practical solutions for overcoming the differences between EU and U.S. privacy frameworks. “The Privacy Bridge Project,” writes John Kropf, CIPP/US, CIPP/G, “is an especially welcome development in the wake of last summer’s transatlantic fallout from the Snowden controversy.” In this post for Privacy Perspectives, Kropf offers the initiative encouragement and five thoughts for the group to consider—from the need to look at successful examples of mutual recognition to the inclusion of non-privacy experts to a reminder that the regions, when it comes down to it, really aren’t that far apart.
