A High Court judge granted WhatsApp Ireland permission to challenge a 225 million euro fine by Ireland’s Data Protection Commission over alleged violations of EU General Data Protection Regulation transparency principles. WhatsApp argues the allegations are invalid and unconstitutional, and incompatible with the European Convention on Human Rights. It also argues the size of the fine violates its constitutional property rights. The company seeks an order dismissing the DPC’s decision.
