In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, European Data Protection Board Chair Andrea Jelinek discussed a variety of topics, including EU General Data Protection Regulation complaints against major tech companies and Cambridge Analytica. Jelinek confirmed the EDPB is investigating 24 cross-border GDPR complaints, mostly involving forced consent. The EDPB chair also hopes more companies move away from targeted advertising in the future, while adding the Cambridge Analytica revelations are likely only the beginning of a larger problem. Meanwhile, the WSJ also hosts a debate on whether the U.S. should adopt legislation similar to the GDPR.
