Several large tech companies are facing complaints related to the EU General Data Protection Regulation, Bloomberg reports. European Data Protection Board Chair Andrea Jelinek and her colleagues are looking into GDPR complaints filed against companies such as Google, Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram. “The important message is that our first task is not to fine the companies, but to look if they are compliant,” Jelinek said, adding if the companies “don’t match the provisions of the regulation, they could be fined.” Facebook Chief Privacy Officer Erin Egan reiterated her company’s commitment to complying with the GDPR.
