The ongoing investigation into the data breach involving IT Grids has revealed that the voter-related data was used to remove voters from electoral rolls, HuffPost India reports. “We are forensically examining the hard drives to trace where the data came from. But there are several columns of data that are an exact replica of the format used in the [State Resident Data Hubs] and [Unique Identification Authority of India’s central database, the] CIDR,” said Stephen Raveendra, the inspector general who is leading the investigation. Raveendra’s statement is at odds with the denial of any such data breach made by the UIDAI.
