The Bombay High Court has rejected orders from India's Ministry of Home Affairs to intercept phone calls from a businessman being investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation, The Times of India reports. The court found such actions against the businessman violated his right to privacy as held by the Supreme Court. The judges referenced precedent set in a Supreme Court case in 1997, in which the court ruled that a "right to privacy would include telephonic conversation in the privacy of one’s house or office. Telephone tapping would, thus, infract Article 21 of the Constitution of India unless it is permitted under the procedure established by law."
