The Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission expressed concerns about the National Police and Security Service's use of voice-controlled technologies to collect evidence, The Irish Times reports. The commission said the use of surveillance technology, including facial recognition software, must be regulated through legislation and subject to “effective scrutiny,” but noted concerns that an upcoming bill on police use of body cameras and drones does not address other technologies. The law should incorporate “necessary human rights and equality protections,” the commission said.
