Israeli startup AnyVision’s facial recognition software is gaining traction across the United States as social justice groups call for a government ban on the use of the technology, Reuters reports. Users of AnyVision’s technology include Los Angeles, California, hospital Cedars-Sinai, oil company BP, and Macy’s in New York’s Herald Square. CEO Avi Golan said the company has worked with retail, banking, gaming, sports and energy companies, and the technology reduces crime and improves safety, adding “blanket bans are irresponsible.”
