The same adversary who claimed responsibility for the data breach at HBO has released an email showing a company executive offered to pay a “bug bounty payment” of $250,000 and asked the hackers to extend their ransom deadline, CNBC reports. The Hollywood Reporter says the email reads, "As a show of good faith on our side, we are willing to commit to making a bug bounty payment of $250,000 to you as soon as we can establish the necessary account and acquire bitcoin." A source close to the situation, however, said the email was a "delay tactic" and that HBO is not communicating with the hackers at this time.
