Guernsey’s Office of the Data Protection Authority called on businesses to take action to prevent “human error” in data handling, BBC News reports. The ODPA said 36 data breaches occurred between July and August involving businesses and organizations. In 22 of those incidents, personal information was sent to the wrong person. A spokesperson said a data breach can cause “lasting harm” to victims, “not to mention the reputational damage that can be done to the organisations responsible for what went wrong.”
