The U.S. and the EU will review an agreement to replace the Safe Harbor framework on December 17, Politico reports. The two governments aim to have a replacement framework in place by January, says EU Justice Commissioner Vera Jourová. Reuters reports that the European Commission is aiming to involve privacy regulators in drafting the new agreement, according to sources close to the negotiations. The goal is that the new plan would allow EU citizens’ grievances to be filed directly with their national privacy regulator. The question is how the regulators would cooperate with the FTC.
