The U.S. Federal Trade Commission has announced it reached four settlements with companies following allegations that they falsely claimed participation in the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield framework. Click Labs and Incentive Services were each alleged to have falsely claimed certification with the Swiss-U.S. Privacy Shield framework. Allegations against Global Data and TDARX included a lack of framework compliance following certification lapses. FTC Bureau of Consumer Protection Director Andrew Smith said, "Enforcement of the Privacy Shield framework is a priority of the FTC, and we will hold companies accountable where, as here, they fail to keep their Privacy Shield promises."
