The New York Times reports on the potential impact Facebook’s recent data breach may have on sites linked to the social media platform via Facebook Login. The tool allowed users to log in to other sites using their Facebook credentials, and following the recent breach, companies are working to determine whether those linked accounts on their sites have been affected, as well. “We have now analyzed our logs for all third-party apps installed or logged in during the attack we discovered last week,” Facebook Vice President of Product Management Guy Rosen said in a blog post. “That investigation has so far found no evidence that the attackers accessed any apps using Facebook Login.” The Times article notes the Facebook post only covers the 50 million compromised accounts and not the 40 million additional profiles that may have been affected. (Registration may be required to access this story.)
