A former employee of SunTrust Banks may have stolen the information belonging to 1.5 million customers, ZDNet reports. The ex-employee could have taken names, addresses, phones and “certain account balances,” while the bank said personally identifiable information, such as Social Security numbers, PIN numbers, passwords and user IDs, were not involved in the breach. While SunTrust is currently investigating the incident, the bank has signed up all its customers for identity protection services at no charge. "While we have not identified significant fraudulent activity, we will reinforce our promise to clients that they will not be held responsible for any loss on their accounts as a result," SunTrust CEO Bill Rogers said.
