European Parliament announced the adoption of recommendations from its Special Committee on Artificial Intelligence in a Digital Age to improve the EU's proposed Artificial Intelligence Act. The committee's recommendations focus on AI's "enormous potential to complement human labour" and how "the level of regulatory intervention should be proportionate to the type of risk associated with the particular use of an AI system." On addressing potential AI-powered surveillance, the committee suggests the proposed framework should "prioritise international cooperation with like-minded partners in order to safeguard fundamental rights."
