Committees from European Parliament and the European Commission commenced joint discussions on the proposed Artificial Intelligence Act. Italian Member of European Parliament Brando Benifei said the aim with the AI Act will be to "protect citizens and consumers, and stimulate positive innovation at the same time, while focussing especially on SMEs and start-ups." Romanian Member of Parliament Dragoş Tudorache added the legislation allows the EU to "lead by example" and "shape the rules of the digital world according to our values."
